Τα καθιερωμένα βραβεία για τις καλύτερες τουριστικές επιχειρήσεις του 2012, απονεμήθηκαν στο Νέο Δελχί, σε μια λαμπρή τελετή παρουσία σπουδαίων στελεχών του παγκόσμιου ταξιδιωτικού κλάδου.
Τα 19α World Travel Awards ανέδειξαν νικητές από όλες τις κατηγορίες, όπως ξενοδοχεία, αεροπορικές εταιρείες και προορισμούς. Η Ελλάδα διακρίθηκε με ένα βραβείο, που απέσπασε η ξενοδοχειακή αλυσίδα Aldemar, για το ξενοδοχείο της στην Κρήτη. Το Aldemar Royal Mare βραβεύτηκε ως το «World's Leading Thalasso Resort 2012», έχοντας δυνατό ανταγωνισμό από άλλα ξενοδοχεία.
Για την καμπάνια marketing το βραβείο κέρδισε η Νέα Ζηλανδία, με σλόγκαν: «100% Middle-earth, 100% Pure New Zealand». Κορυφαίος προορισμός για γαμήλια ταξίδια αναδείχτηκε ο Μαυρίκιος, γαστρονομικός προορισμός το Περού και προορισμός για κρουαζιέρα η Τζαμάικα. World’s Leading Destination βραβεύτηκε η Ινδία.
Το βραβείο της καλύτερης αεροπoρικής εταιρείας κέρδισε η Etihad του Αμπού Ντάμπι.
Ως Worlds Leading Hotel βραβεύτηκε το ξενοδοχείο Burj Al Arab στο Ντουμπάι, ενώ το ξεχωριστό βραβείο για το σέρβις και τη φιλοξενία απέσπασε το ξενοδοχείο La Cigale Hotel στην Ντόχα. Καλύτερο boutique hotel βραβεύτηκε το Saxon Boutique Hotel, Villas & Spa στη Νότιο Αφρική. Ως το καλύτερο ξενοδοχειακό πρόγραμμα επιβράβευσης πελατών τιμήθηκε η Starwood, καλύτερο πολυτελές τραίνο το Maharajas’ Express.
Τα World Travel Awards κλείνουν το 2013 τα 20 χρόνια και αποτελούν ένα καταξιωμένο θεσμό στον χώρο της τουριστικής βιομηχανίας. Τουριστικοί πράκτορες και ταξιδιώτες από 171 χώρες από όλο τον κόσμο, δίνουν κάθε χρόνο την ψήφο τους, ώστε να αναδειχτούν οι καλύτερες εταιρείες από όλο το φάσμα του ταξιδιού.
